A worker (AV Technician Dan Mullaney) fell while approximately 20 feet while hanging a banner inside the atrium of a Boston hotel Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 4:36 p.m. inside the Boston Marriott Copley Place, at 110 Huntington Ave. Firefighters said the worker was on a scaffold about two floors above the floor at the time of the accident.

“He was doing some work concerning running some wire in the balcony,” Edmund Hassan, Boston EMS Deputy Superintendent said. “Apparently he lost his footing on the balcony and fell to the floor below.”

The 27-year-old was unable to speak as rescue workers placed him on a stretcher and rushed him to the hospital.

He was listed in critical condition Wednesday night.  He later passed away.
